Gold Coast locals Hot Wax have released the first taste of their forthcoming EP today - 'Quit Your Job' is 'an off-kilter anthem for misfits'.
With a sound that's in the same neighbourhood as '90s punk like The Offspring infused with a modern twist and 'lyrics that stick two fingers up at authority', Hot Wax latest offering channels everyone's inner rebel.
"I've always hated being told what to do," lead singer Nicky Swamps says.
"Life should be about doing what makes you happy. So many people are caught up in situations that don't serve them.
"This song is how we all feel right now, working jobs that we don't want to be in and giving our time away. We want to be free to create and travel."
The band were able to work with renowned Byron Bay-based American producer NicK DiDia (Rage Against The Machine) on 'Quit Your Job'. "Having the chance to cut this song with Nick DiDia was a dream for us," Nicky says.
"We know where we want to be in the industry, so we're surrounding ourselves with the right people. We're not here to waste time."
