Brisbane producer Health Club's first release of 2021 is the tranquil, smooth, lush, and refined sounds of 'Have It Like That'.
Merging electronic production and trip hop beats with delicate female vocals to create an elegant soundscape that vibes classy, chic feels Health Club was inspired by '70s-'80s-era soul and funk."At the time of writing, I was listening to lots of old soul and funk records: Imagination, Funkadelic, Zapp. . . I really wanted to present what felt like a modern take on their groove," Health Club says.
"So all of the drums and bass are played in on pads and swung as loosely as I could, while trying to maintain a modern, quantised feel."
For fans of SAFIA, Flume, Nick Murphy, and Eves Karydas, ahead of its release tomorrow scenestr is amped to premiere Health Club's 'Have It Like That' today. Enjoy.
"'Have It Like That' is about finding yourself wrapped up with somebody new, a honeymoon state of being with someone," adds Health Club.
"Sonically, I wanted to reflect that with verses feeling like a warm hug and choruses of release."
