The last couple of years has seen Perth-based indie musician Joel Stevens branch out as a solo artist under the Harry Foxton moniker.
A tip of the hat to his old band that he founded, Foxton Kings, Joel infuses his own rock and country originals as Harry Foxton with a passion and soul that sweeps you up with its heartland stylings. So far, Harry has released three singles since 2020: 'Gone', 'Let Go' and 'Howling Love'. His next chapter is 'One More Night', a self-reflection song exploring themes of love and heartbreak.
Brightly confident vocals lead a buoyant, joyful pop-rock melody that washes over the senses with an energetic spirit that still tugs at the heartstrings.
This is heartland pop-rock in a similar wheelhouse to legends like Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, or The War On Drugs and Sam Fender for younger listeners.
"When writing 'One More Night' it never started as an upbeat pop song. It was stripped back, sad and acoustic," shares Joel. "I originally wrote it as a letter to myself, to keep going after a challenging break up."
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (17 March), scenestr is stoked to premiere 'One More Night' today. Enjoy.
"Once Dylan ('producer') and I were in the studio talking about my influences, Springsteen/ Brian Fallon etc., we gave the heartland rock 'upbeat' driving drums a shot. All the rest fell into place nice and easy after that."
Harry Foxton launches 'One More Night' at Clancy's Fish Pub (Fremantle) on 22 April.
