Brisbane soul, indie rock musician Graham Moes is ready to release his first solo single, 'Risk', since 2015.
Graham spent 2017 playing as frontman for Fat Picnic with festival appearances at Splendour in the Grass, Caloundra Music Festival and Island Vibe Festival as well as releasing two songs with his band project Graham Moes & The Petrichor.
But the start of 2018 is about Graham's solo endeavours, with 'Risk' to be launched with a home-town gig in early February. "The song came together after taking a break with a partner in September last year," Graham says.
"A lot of buried emotion came up and I felt quite angry. Not angry at her specifically, but angry in general. Angry at the world, angry at myself for not being able to set healthy boundaries with people and ask for what I want and need.
"I felt closed off and upset, but luckily had this song as an outlet. It was a very cathartic experience. The line: 'And all I've got here is this golden frown' to me signifies that this particular experience of being angry was in no way a bad thing.
"It's ok to feel whatever your feeling, and reminding myself of this helps me to process and allow room for stuff to come up and leave me when it's ready."
