"'On Repeat' was a song I wrote detailing emotions of entrapment, especially those that manifest themselves whilst under the influence of psychedelic substances or general feelings of paranoia," frontman Joe Caddy says.
"The main riff that initiates the song was the first thing I played when I picked up my new Fender Telecaster and the lyrics followed.
"The song initially had a longer run time and a different structure, but the short, poppy skeleton of the song was in part the vision of Dave Parkin of Blackbird Studios, who produced the song and EP."
Adds bassist Ross Mace: "We have been wanting to work with Parky for about three years and finally the planets aligned."
Figurehead play Clancy's Fish Pub (Fremantle) 3 July.
