With a vibe that instils '80s pop in the vein of Mitski and Marina and the Diamonds, Melbourne artist Eijsma (pronounced eyes-mah) is ready to release her debut single, 'Even If It Kills Me'.
Raised in a family of creatives, and a classically trained musician, Eijsma (aka Ella Blackburn) explores a new side to her creativity with 'Even If It Kills Me'."'Even If It Kills Me' is about the two sides of my personality that are always at war with each other – one side fun, silly and awkward, and the other an unforgiving perfectionistic workhorse," Ella says.
"It's about being aware of these tendencies and trying to hold the two sides in balance. "I wasn't originally planning for it to be my first release, but after spending most of 2020 in isolation it seemed right.
"It's kind of about self-discovery, and acceptance, which leads to healing and letting go, almost as if you're dancing while in crisis."
Ahead of the release this Friday (23 October) of 'Even If It Kills Me', scenestr is stoked to premiere Eijsma's debut single today. Enjoy.
