The past couple of years for indie artist Dana Gehrman has been jam-packed with accomplishments.
From releasing her debut album 'Find A Way' three years ago that was followed by being nominated in the Queensland Music Awards the same year, Dana was then a finalist in the prestigious Carol Lloyd Award in 2020.She recently opened for blues rockers The Teskey Brothers' Brisbane concert at The Riverstage.
Now Dana is reaching into the past to present her newest project, a cover of American rockers Little Feat's 1979 hit, 'Perfect Imperfection'.
It's a sultry, velvety ride through jazzy blues tones mixed with Gehrman's smoky, forthright and seductive vocals.
Add old-school rock feels alongside the rich sounds of the organ and you have a track bursting with a vivacious spirit that will encompass your soul.
Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (4 February), scenestr is amped to premiere 'Perfect Imperfection' today. Enjoy.
"I've spent quite a long time thinking about giving some Little Feat songs a go in the studio," Dana shares.
"The pandemic reinforced the importance of just doing your thing. . . so I figured, why the hell not?
"It's been a real time of reflection and being grateful and embracing the good stuff that comes one's way.
"This song really reflects that. . . Nothing in life is perfect but there's some damn good moments; and recording this track was definitely one.
"This song is also from my favourite Little Feat record, so it seemed like a 'right song, right time' situation."
Dana Gehrman launches 'Perfect Imperfection' at It's Still A Secret (Brisbane) 2 April.
