Premiere: Stream Clinton Hutton's New Single 'Can't Handle Losing'

Clinton Hutton is a rock & roll artist from Tasmania.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from Tasmania, Clinton Hutton's newest release is the rip-roaring and spirited 'Can't Handle Losing'.

A song dedicated to those individuals who take winning and losing a little too seriously, Clinton brought the song to life earlier this year when isolating with COVID.

An electrified, rollicking rock & roll beat is paired to muscular riffage, the song careening along at a rapid rate of knots throughout.

"I have grown up playing sports my whole life, so it's fair to say I'm a competitive person," Clinton says. "I like to do well and I enjoy a win at whatever sport or game I'm playing, but I generally don't treat it like it's life or death.

"There are however, a lot of people I know who take winning and losing to another level, so I thought it would be a fun topic to write a rock song about."

Ahead of the song's release tomorrow, scenestr is stoked to premiere 'Can't Handle Losing' today. Enjoy.

Clinton recorded, mixed and mastered the song from his home studio, performing all the instruments (like he does for his solo recordings). "I am constantly on the road performing, so I don't get much time to record; having recently set up a decent home studio has been fantastic for me, really helps me maximise my time.

"There are so many musical influences that are present in all my songs. With this track, I really just wanted to write a straight-up rock song that would sound great no matter where it was played.

"You can hear the the guitar tones are very AC/DC inspired where the chorus feels more like a big chant in the style of Queen. I love guitar solos so having one on this song gives me joy."

Clinton Hutton plays View 42 Restaurant & Bar (Strahan Village) 31 December. He regularly gigs throughout Tasmania including playing private functions.
