Premiere: Stream Cedarsmoke's New Single 'Sadly Ever After'

Cedarsmoke are a Brisbane-based rock band.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Like a slice of Springsteen AM radio rock married to the slacker indie rock of '90s college radio (think Pavement meets Guided By Voices with a slice of Dinosaur Jr., Cedarsmoke's newest single is 'Sadly Ever After'.

Once more keeping it real with the stinging honesty of their lyrics, 'Sadly Ever After' finds the Brisbane-based five-piece examining the sobering reality that the good stuff in life never lasts forever and it's best to keep your head out of the clouds.

"'Sadly Ever After' is a love song with a happily ever after ending that's skewed more in the way of reality than fairytale," frontman and songwriter Jon Cloumassis says.

"It's about how the arduous and monotonous aspects of life still persist regardless of whether you're in love or living a fairytale ending.

"It's about stuff like dealing with money and work, and enjoying those things when you get to do them with people you love."

Ahead of the track's release tomorrow (which features guest vocals from Dumb Things' vocalist Maddie Keinonen), scenestr is amped to premiere 'Sadly Ever After' today. Enjoy.

After releasing four EPs, Cedarsmoke's debut album 'Into The Wild World' is scheduled to drop 22 October.

Cedarsmoke will be joined by Madam Monet and Bouquets of Wishful Thinking at Greaser (Brisbane) 8 October.
