An award-winning country musician from Western Australia, Brandon Poletti's newest single 'Craving' leans into the resilience of heartache and the universal power of hope.

'Craving' also acts as a preview for Poletti's upcoming EP 'Thinking Of The Past' (out October). "It invites listeners to reflect on the complexities of love, resilience in the face of heartache, and the enduring power of hope," he says of 'Craving'.

An earthy, yet bruised country-folk tone opens the song, Brandon's deep, from-the-heart vocals serenading the inner romantic with an aching longing that resonates as those dusty, delicate drum rolls lap against the melody like a herding dog, as the guitar sounds like a twinkly, inquisitive cocked eye.

The track continues to meander, its laidback rhythm evoking a bucketload of emotion as Brandon sings about bittersweet feelings of longing and hope, and the internal pull of connection that makes us uniquely human.

There's a hint of Paul Kelly, a touch of Paul Dempsey and a whole lotta of sonic heart to Poletti's 'Craving'. Ahead of the song's release tomorrow (19 July), scenestr is proud to premiere 'Craving' today. Enjoy.

Previously Brandon won Best Country Group at the WA Music Awards as Brandon Poletti & The Eagleton Brothers alongside WAM Song Of The Year and WA Country Music Awards nominations.

"I wrote this song years ago and it was lost in an old songwriting book that I found when we were moving house," adds Brandon. "I had a listen back to the rough voice notes demo from around 2021 that I'd done and I thought this would actually be a good tune to record!"

A new guitar pedal also instigated the song's sound, as Brandon explains. "As a guitarist, one of the best things to do is buy new pedals.

"I brought a new reverb pedal and just started playing around and stumbled over the chord progression for 'Craving'. It sounded really melancholic and sombre, a perfect start for a song. The lyrics followed from that and I reckon the song was written within 45 minutes."
