A self-describe doom and blues band, Sydney indie rockers Beyond The Willows are ready to release their debut album, 'Into The Sun'.
A mix of indie rock, blues rock and alt. country, the four-piece Cronulla group recorded 'Into The Sun' across two years in a makeshift garage studio. "It was a lot of fun doing it on our own terms," the group's vocalist/ guitarist, Sam Strachan says."I think we really captured our sound and got to take our time and have fun with it."
Ahead of the album's release tomorrow (13 November), scenestr is stoked to premiere 'Into The Sun' today. Enjoy.
The emerging band (who formed in 2018, releasing a debut EP in 2019) released the album's title track (which features guest vocals from Ruby Phillips – singer of Ruby Fields) last month, quickly selling out both their launch shows.
Scattered throughout 'Into The Sun' are a host of Australiana sounds Sam recorded locally. "I have a bunch of nature recordings from the bushlands around my house in Kurnell that I've incorporated throughout the album.
"I feel like any Australian will feel at home with the atmosphere running through the album.
"Lyrically, I try not to be too blunt with my words and themes through my songs but they all tell a story, some more metaphorically than others.
"'Reflections' for example, is personifying anxiety and mental illness which I think is a good example of having to dig a little deeper to get the true meaning of each song."
