Soulful pop, fierce vocals and a delicious synth beat; welcome to the new single from ALLIPHA – 'Eye'.
The Melbourne-based artist (who already has three singles under her belt with a debut EP - 'Things I Didn't Say' – on the horizon) draws from influences has diverse as KC and the Sunshine Band, Florence + the Machine and Anderson .Paak
"I wrote 'Eye' when I felt really betrayed by a friend and didn't have the energy to argue about it," begins ALLIPHA, discussing the origins of the song.
"But by not arguing about it I had all these things I hadn't said that were building up, so I wrote about it. We started with the bassline and grew the other parts around that. I was hugely inspired by Men I Trust."
Triggered by the lack of face-to-face honesty, ALLIPHA channeled her fiery response into 'Eye'.
"This song sort of exaggerates a super bitchy frame of mind. Every session on this song I think we laughed about how bitchy it is. It's not the usual tone I write with, normally it's more 'why me' than 'f... you'."
A teaser taste of the new EP, scenestr is stoked to offer you dear reader an exclusive stream of 'Eye' ahead of its release tomorrow.
