Sydney producer Dominic Price began creating in his bedroom, exploring the breadth of instrumentation and creating a ‘baroque disco’ aimed at the art of communication.
Majoring in linguistics (the inspiration for his project name Dead Language), Dominic has taken his fascination with communication to the musical field, using melody and lyric to create his own genre-bending discourse.
After releasing his first single, 'Stockholm', earlier this year, Dead Language is back with his newest musical adventure, the ELO-Midnight Juggernauts-esque 'LED Nights', which scenestr is premiering today. “'LED Nights' is, really, about being a musician,” Dominic says.
“For quite a long time, I felt almost alienated from my own music making. It was a combination of not feeling satisfied with the sound I'd been generating, and not being skilled enough yet to expand and make the music I actually wanted to.
“'LED Nights' was the first time I felt that I'd found a sound and style that suited me. I ended up recording it in the Sydney suburb of Coogee with my co-producer, Luke Bertoz.
“Luke and I have always worked like a dream with each other, and it was he who managed to help me finally piece the song together. Unfortunately I don't have any upcoming shows, but there's scheduled to be a small tour when I release my debut EP next February!”
