Alternative rock legends, Pixies will return to Australia this December as part of their Come On Pilgrim… It's Surfer Rosa tour.
It's unfinished business for the band, who were in Australia mid-tour (having played a Melbourne show) when they were forced to leave the country due to the onset of the COVID pandemic."We are thrilled to be able to announce our return to Australia in December 2022, following the untimely postponement of some of these shows back in 2020.
"We will be returning to play two different sets across the tour: 1. Performing 'Come On Pilgrim' and 'Surfer Rosa' in their entirety in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth. 2. A brand new set featuring songs from across our catalogue, including some oldies and some brand new tracks in Melbourne. La la love you!"
Produced by Steve Albini, 'Surfer Rosa' includes early Pixies classics such as 'Bone Machine', 'Gigantic' and 'Vamos' as well as the seminal 'Where Is My Mind?'.
'Come On Pilgrim' contained eight songs from the band's first-ever studio session, produced by Gary Smith and recorded at his Fort Apache Studio near Boston.
Pixies most recent studio album is 2019's 'Beneath the Eyrie', while they released a new single titled 'Human Crime' earlier this month that was written by Pixies founder and frontman Black Francis, with the video directed by the band's bass player Paz Lenchantin.
Tickets on sale from 2pm (local time) on 5 April.
