Co-founder of Joy Division and New Order, Peter Hook is set to return to Australia in 2022 with his group The Light.
This tour will feature Peter and his band mates performing Joy Division's landmark albums: 'Unknown Pleasures' and 'Closer' in full and sequential order. Many storied music publications (NME, Mojo, Pitchfork) have called 'Unknown Pleasures' one of the greatest albums ever created. Songs such as 'Disorder', 'Shadowplay', 'New Dawn Fades' and 'She's Lost Control' have a power that would not be denied.
While 'Closer' was labelled by Pitchfork as 'Joy Division's start-to-finish masterpiece, a flawless encapsulation of everything the group sought to achieve'; it was released just a couple of months after the suicide of frontman Ian Curtis.
"I never had any idea that I would play anywhere apart from Manchester that one night (18 May, 2010)," Peter Hook says about forming The Light to perform Joy Division's back catalogue.
"I have been asked to play all around the world and everywhere we have gone we have gotten a great reception. . . after denying Joy Division, to actually get the music back."
These concerts will also feature other Joy Division B-sides and rarities, plus an additional set of New Order material.
General tickets go on sale from 12pm on 1 March.
