Icon of new wave and electronic music, Peter Hook is bringing his band The Light back to Australia in 2024.
The bassist and co-founder of Joy Division and New Order will headline concerts in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth next May.The tour will see Peter Hook and The Light perform both New Order and Joy Division's famed Substance compilations, sequentially and in their entirety.
The New Order 'Substance' compilation arrived in 1987 and features the band's 12-inch mixes and B-sides of all their singles up to that point including 'Blue Monday', 'Bizarre Love Triangle', 'Temptation', 'Shellshock' and 'True Faith'.
It was the brainchild of Factory Records boss Tony Wilson, so he could listen to New Order tracks on his CD player in his car.
The following year, Joy Division's 'Substance' landed featuring all their singles which did not appear on the albums such as 'Transmission', 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and 'Atmosphere', as well as their B-sides, tracks from their EP 'An Ideal For Living' and the Factory Records sampler.
Tickets on sale from 12pm (local time) on 4 August.
