After the release of their debut EP, 'Streets', in mid 2017, Big Orange are set to release their newest single, 'Goodnight Kiss Vampire Bite', this month.
Big Orange originally formed in 2015 and have already secured festival appearances at WAMfest and the Winter Music Festival.
The group's lead singer and songwriter, Daniel Davis is excited to release the new single. “[I'm] really excited. It's taken forever to get out, so I can't wait to get it out there.
“I wrote [the song] last October. We were talking about getting it done sometime late last year, then it got pushed back and then we recorded it maybe three or four months ago. It's been in the can for months.”
Daniel explains the new single is different from last year's EP. “It's completely different. This song has got kind of; I thought when I first came up with it, almost an R&B layer to it, which is kind of amusing to me.”
When it comes to writing music, Daniel says he prefers the songs take their own path. “I had the lyrics for it – a couple of lines for the chorus just came to me and I wrote them down at some stage. At a later date I came up with the melody for the song and it fit really well. It then sort of snowballed from there.”
Big Orange are happy with the final product of 'Goodnight Kiss Vampire Bite'. “Sometimes you're not really happy and it doesn’t really fulfil that thing you have in your head, but I think we got pretty close to it this time.”
The group will launch 'Goodnight Kiss Vampire Bite' in late May with a home-town show.
Daniel says, with the line-up they currently have, this will most likely be the best Big Orange have sounded as a band. “I think this will be the closest to how we should sound, so I'm really looking forward to playing live.”
