It's been well over a decade since they last toured down under, but underground, indie rock, lo-fi icons Pavement return to Australia in 2023.
Fresh from kicking off a North American tour last week, the band – Stephen Malkmus, Scott 'Spiral Stairs' Kannberg, Mark Ibold, Bob Nastanovich and Steve West – will headline theatre shows in Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Wollongong, Sydney and Melbourne as well as appearing at MONA FOMA in Hobart and the inaugural Tent Pole musical jamboree in Geelong. One of the most influential indie bands of their time, in their original decade-long run through the '90s, Pavement released five era-defining albums: 'Slanted And Enchanted' (1992), 'Crooked Rain, Crooked Rain' (1994), 'Wowee Zowee' (1995), 'Brighten The Corners' (1997) and 'Terror Twilight' (1999) – before disbanding in 1999.
The band reunited in late 2019 with plans to tour in 2020 before COVID arrived. They last toured Australia in 2010 after the band had reunited for the first time that same year.
Tickets on sale from 1pm (local time) on 21 September. Tent Pole tickets on sale from 1pm (local time) on 21 September. MONA FOMA tickets go on sale in October.
