Paul Kelly's Making Gravy Christmas Concert Returns To Melbourne

Paul Kelly's Making Gravy concert returns to Melbourne in 2022.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Paul Kelly's annual series of Christmas concerts, Making Gravy, returns this festive season with a headline show planned in Melbourne early December.

The 21st of December is now unofficially known as Gravy Day for many Australians, ever since Kelly first debuted his first Making Gravy concert series in 2017.

An Officer of the Order of Australia for his distinguished service to the arts, a member of the ARIA Hall of Fame (since 1997), Kelly is also a 17-times ARIA Award winner.

Put simply, he's a doyen of the Australian music scene who has become ubiquitous with his live appearances the last half decade.

Set to join Paul making gravy at Sidney Myer Music Bowl will be Melbourne's globetrotting punks Amyl And The Sniffers, Kiwi indie gangly stars The Beths, and 'Waste Of Time' Sydney singer-songwriter Alex The Astronaut.

So kick off the festive season with a night celebrating songs from Kelly's four decade-long career. . . including, of course, his 1996 classic 'How To Make Gravy', a song five minutes long, with no chorus, and set in jail.

You can also expect a few of his favourite Christmas odes. From folk, classical, soul, carols, hymns, rock & roll, don't miss this special, one-off live event.

Tickets on sale from 1pm local time on 5 October.

Paul Kelly's Making Gravy concert takes place at Sidney Myer Music Bowl (Melbourne) on 9 December.
