Global event Palm Tree Music Festival returns to Australian shores this December following a non-stop tour of international instalments and a successful inaugural foray down under last year.
The intercontinental tropical party will hit Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
The 2023 event was a slam dunk. It featured Tiesto and Kygo, continuing the brand’s reputation as Australia joined the fray alongside Hawaii, The Hamptons, Mexico, Croatia and more. The event was originally developed by Kygo and is inspired by the bonds and memories forged with musical friends, from years of touring the world.
Headlining the 2024 celebration in Australia are global hitmakers The Chainsmokers – seeing the GRAMMY-winning duo heading back to our shores for the first time in five years. They’ve delivered some of the biggest songs in the world including ‘Closer’ featuring Halsey, ‘Something Just Like This’ with Coldplay, and ‘Don’t Let Me Down’ featuring Daya.
Next up is Swedish DJ and producer Alesso, whose legendary dance anthems have seen him own stages at Coachella, Creamfields, Tomorrowland and more. “Can't express how excited I am to come back to one of my favourite countries in the world. Every time I get invited back, it's always a highlight of the year. Aussie crowds are no question one of the best and craziest crowds. I love audiences that aren't shy to show their enthusiasm and ready to have a good time, plus, one of the funniest people I know is from Australia, and the seafood is awesome!”
Audiences can get swept away by classically trained, multi-instrumentalist Gryffin, and his captivating soundscape which can be heard in tracks like Tove Lo’s ‘Talking Body’, Maroon 5’s ‘Animals’, and more: “So excited to be coming to Australia for my very first time.”
Genre-bending Harlem hero Austin Millz is next, with innovative beats and electrifying sets. Even prior to his viral Boiler Room moment in August last year, he’s applauded for his fusion of soul, electronic and dance music, carving out a special niche between genres.
Synth-pop innovator Daya earned a GRAMMY Award before she was 20. Her debut single was written while still in high school, and her dance anthem with The Chainsmokers, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, sold more than ten million copies in America alone: “I’m so excited to play the Palm Tree Fest!! It’ll be my first time ever performing in Australia and to do it alongside so many old friends will be a dream.”
Repping us is one of our most exciting emerging artists, Darley. From Triple J rotation to performing on mainstage at Ultra, her ascent has not gone unnoticed: “I can’t wait to be playing on one of the world’s biggest festivals with artists I’ve looked up to my whole career.”
Tickets go on sale 12 July at 3pm local.
