English indie rockers Pale Waves are headed to Australia in 2023.
Already revealed on the line-up for Super Fun Day Festival in Brisbane, the Manchester pop-punk quartet will also headline concerts in Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne and Sydney in March.A voice for the LGBTQI community, Pale Waves have released three studio albums, their most recent being 'Unwanted' that dropped earlier this year.
It finds the band embracing their queerness with lead singer Heather Baron-Gracie writing more directly about her relationships with women. Meanwhile, drummer Ciára Doran has been posting updates about their transition over the last year, from starting testosterone to recovering from top surgery.
"'Unwanted' is in your face, and that's exactly what I wanted," Baron-Gracie says. "I want Pale Waves to keep growing in this direction. Bigger, bolder, and more unapologetic."
As for their live shows, punters better bring their dancing shows. "Brilliant, energetic, dynamic songs that everyone's gonna fall in love with live, and we're just gonna have a really f...ing good time playing," enthuses Baron-Gracie.
"I feel like the pandemic has really influenced and changed the way we make art now. People just want to get up and dance around and have energy."
Tickets on sale from 9am (local time) on 15 December.
