Now in his 20th year of electronic music production Richie's love for musical expression and community collaboration keeps his heart in the scene. Which makes him the perfect spokesperson to tell you why you are going to Rainbow Serpent Festival.

“Oi! Would you rather go on: A. an intergalactic space mission to an unmapped wonderland of inspiration; B. a road trip to Victoria for Rainbow Serpent Festival; or C. all of the above?

“If you answered anything other than ‘C’, it’s safe to assume you’ve never been to Rainbow Serpent Festival before, and you should definitely read on to understand why ‘A’ and ‘B’ are pretty much the same thing.

“As you and your best mates stuff your tents and pillows into the old, '89 Kingswood Space Shuttle and cruise over to Victoria on your most direct, bitumen wormhole, you should expect the same excited anticipation as knowing you are on your way to something entirely new and unexplored.

“Actually, the more you may think you know what you’re in for at Rainbow Serpent Festival, the more of a surprise you will probably get. The new, amazing friends you are about to make are unlike your everyday bunch of humanoids. Often resembling something along the lines of an extra-terrestrial talent show, they will ensure your ideas of humanity are expanded as you realise that our planet can actually be rather… off the planet.

“In fact, you might say it’s a huge saving on fuel. I mean, the price of car-pooling to a neighbourly state, compared to loading a rocket with enough hydrogen to travel interstellar distances is quite a difference.

“And somehow I don’t think the evil supermarket-corps have extended their fuel discounts very far beyond our solar system… (thank god for that). Nope, it’s just a few bucks each and a nice siesta at one of the many side-of-the-road space stations… and BAM!

“You’re there! Welcome home. What the…? I told you so!! I’ve been to 15 of these gatherings and I still can’t work it out. Should I get dressed up? Paint my face? Meet the local elders and get involved in the opening ceremony?

Night Overview

“Should I dance to techno? Join that drum circle? Listen to that alien preach about the joys of universal peace? Should I get a healing and a massage from those Jedi-masters? Should I watch the electronica workshop and become a trance god?

“Should I buy one of those futuristic hoops and blow people away with my mad cyber-aerobics moves? Should I learn how to meditate while doing pirate yoga on the dancefloor and explore the outer realms of my higher consciousness via learning the significance of understanding the key to the divine gateway by focusing on the sacred meaning of the synchronistic, holistic, psychedelic, 11:11pm vegan-dubstep burrito?

“The options seem to be infinite. And they are. That is, as long as you treat your environment and your fellow aliens with respect, care and friendliness. As long as you look after yourself, your friends, and all those you encounter and as long as you respect and co-operate with the local cultures, laws and diverse mentalities then you will have at your fingertips an infinite amount of options that you can use to gain one of the most incredible, wonderful, out of this world experiences you can possibly imagine.

“I told you. There’s no difference. Rainbow Serpent Festival = intergalactic vortex. Get ready for a ride. Drive safe, and see you there.”

Yours sincerely,
Richie Interpulse
