Ska-punk band Alla Spina, is looking forward to their biggest and best year so far, full of local gigs, international tours and a big, single releases, and you're invited!
What do you get when you combine ska, punk, rock, new wave and pop? Alla Spina. Alla Spina comes from the Italian phrase “pumped up”, which perfectly describes the band. If you've ever had the chance to find yourself at one of their gigs you know you can expect nothing less than a fun and energetic set, with loud, eclectic music, lots of tempo changes, and something just a little bit different. But if you haven't had the chance to see Alla Spina live, you are in luck! This year there will be plenty of opportunity to see the eclectic band perform, no matter where in the world you may be.
Since their debut EP 'Tony' was released in 2012, Alla Spina have released a number of singles and recorded tracks including 'No Rest For The Wicked', in which they collaborated with Brisbane hip hop artist Yojay Chillin. This year, they will be releasing two singles, 'Goodbye' and 'No One Knows How Hard It Is To Be Mexican American'.
“We've augmented the sound a little bit. These are the first tracks that we've done that are going to include some horns, trumpets and a trombone,” Alla Spina's lead singer Simonne Lupinetti. “It's definitely different – still the same music, but more modern and contemporary, and definitely a bigger sound.”
On top of their upcoming releases, Alla Spina will also be touring throughout the year, starting off in Los Angeles in May, where they will be touring with fellow ska-punk band, and long-time friends, PapaFish. “Ever since the band started, we've always said 'We should go to LA'. There's a really big scene for our type of music, with a ska-punk influence. All the bands that influence us are from southern California. It's the spiritual home of our kind of music. Also, people are always telling us that we should go to LA and play some gigs there.”
Alla Spina play The Milk Factory on 21 March, Beetle Bar on 27 March and Brewstock Festival at the Sunshine Coast Brewery on 28 March.
