Australian indie, alternative-electronic artist Ngaiire has released her new single 'Fuchsia', which is a continuation of the art project/ experiment she has described as "a very expensive therapy session".
A sultry, saucy beat cascades over Ngaiire's piercing vocals as her lyrics explore all that is queer and taboo in post-colonial Papua New Guinea."I've waited a long time to share this with you and now I finally can!" admits Ngaiire.
"I wrote this about someone close to me that on our research trip we discovered was wanting to live their lives a 'certain' way.
"I am choosing to keep parts of this story discreet for many reasons – the two biggest ones being that it is illegal for them to exist as they would like to choose and that it is not my place to reveal.
"That said, I wrote this as an imagining of what they or others in similar positions may be wanting to say in the height of their desires bubbling in a pressure cooker of cultural and religious expectations, and the repercussions of what that exposure would mean."
Last year, Ngaiire released her critically acclaimed album '3', which received 4 ARIA Award nominations. She'll finally head out to tour that album with her rescheduled Australian tour taking place throughout September.
Ngaiire will headline shows in Brisbane, Byron Bay, Melbourne, Hobart, Canberra, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney.
