New Zealand Artist Remixes 'Punch Some Cones' Queensland Backpacker Into An Electro Banger

New Zealand electronic artist Lemon Pepper releases his debut song 'Punch Some Cones'.
National Music Editor, based in Brisbane, Australia.
'Passionate about true crime docos, the Swannies, golf and sleep, I’ve been writing about music for 20-plus years. What I’ve learnt? There’s two types of music – good and bad.’

In true stoner fashion, New Zealand artist Lemon Pepper has shown up for the annual 420 celebrations a couple of days late.

But bless him in all his electronic glory, 'cause our Trans-Tasman mate across the ditch has pieced together an industrial techno banger featuring the hacksaw vocal samples of the Queensland backpacker who uttered the eternal words "punch some cones for a few days" when asked how he'd cope with the new lockdown restrictions.

The unnamed man was returning home to the Gold Coast Airport in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"'Punch Cones' is both a reaction to and a bittersweet welcome home to the mandatory, state-sanctioned introversion induced by Aotearoa's current level four lockdown, chuckling all the while at this timeline’s surrounding surreality and absurdity and channeling it inward," chuckles Lemon Pepper.

And for those who have pulled one too many billies while in iso, here is the original 'Punch Some Cones' traveller to freshen your memory.
