Burleigh Heads is set to welcome a new music festival with the arrival of Hey Sunshine.
Hey Sunshine's 'music party' will take place in October at Burleigh Brewing Co. The taphouse and brewery space is set to be transformed into a nostalgia-themed construction, filled with inspiring light shows and innovative surf film projections by local surf-film makers.
In celebration of their highly-anticipated debut album 'Science Fiction', psych-pop band The Belligerents will be the headliner act. The Brisbane five piece will take to the Sunshine stage, showcasing their latest releases 'Flash', 'Caroline', 'In My Way' and 'Praise You'.
Bootleg Rascal will be joining The Belligerents with their hip hop infused, electro soul beats. Hey Sunshine will be filled with an array of up-and-coming bands from around the Gold Coast, Byron Bay and Sydney. Featuring Peach Fur (Gold Coast), Galaxy Girls, The Cinema Wristys (Byron Bay), Borneo and Thunder Fox (Sydney).
Collective crew The Wonky Queenslander will showcase their dynamic vinyl and electronic mixes in between bands. Market stalls, surf films and a live art feature to be raffled off for a local charity will be on site as well.
Hey Sunshine director Anthea Bennett says, “live music events are so enriching to a community’s vigour and vibrancy and and I’m really excited to be adding Hey Sunshine to the flourishing Gold Coast music space.”
