Queenslanders interested in building a sustainable career in the music industry are invited to register for QMusic’s Industry Connect workshops.
The free, professional development programme for aspiring and practicing Queensland artists and music industry workers will be held from April to July 2018. It consists of six workshops that cover the process of starting a music industry business and releasing a song into the market.
Musicians who participate in the programme will also have the chance to play at festivals throughout the year, and may receive travel grants to perform away from home.
Six participants will receive BIGSOUND bursaries that will enable them to attend BIGSOUND Festival.
QMusic has developed the programme in collaboration with experienced music industry professionals with an aim to help participants build knowledge and relationships that are integral to their success.
Content covered by the workshops includes getting to know current music industry structures, writing songs people can relate to, monetising revenue streams, working with publicists, building visibility online, and understanding the release cycle.
Since launching in 2017, the program has helped 556 artists and music industry practitioners navigate the contemporary music industry landscape.
2018 will see Industry Connect delivered across an even greater number of regions, expanding to Toowoomba, Ipswich, Maroochydore and Noosa for the first time and returning to Cairns, Brisbane, Nambour and the Gold Coast.
