With the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) to host 'Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei', an exhibition that explores the influence of these two artists on modern and contemporary life, the Gallery has unveiled its largest Friday Nights programme to date.
From December until April, 2016, 18 headline acts – including Sally Seltmann. Bertie Blackman, Twerps, Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders, Neon Indian and Regurgitator plus '70s no-wave icon James Chance – will abode at the NGV during the series.
Some performances will link directly with themes from the Andy Warhol | Ai Weiwei exhibition. Psychedelic prog-rock band Moon Duo will perform with their own visual projections inspired by Andy Warhol’s multimedia 'Exploding Plastic Inevitable'; and a special one-off performance from Regurgitator will see the alt-rock legends re-interpreting the Velvet Underground's debut album produced by Andy Warhol.
