Nash Hotel To Close

The National Hotel 'The Nash' in Geelong to close as a live venue
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Geelong's favourite pub, The National (or as it's referred to by the locals, The Nash), is set to close as a live venue.

The National Event Manager Al O'Neill confirmed the Nash's will be hosting its last show on Saturday November 10.

O'Neill says the close is not caused by a financial issue or lack of punters through the door.

"The venue is closing as the structural integrity of the foundations supporting the building has been compromised and the council has issued an order to the landlords to commence major works to investigate whether these foundations can be repaired."

While we all hope the Nash can be fixed, O'Neill has determined that the situation is out of his hands.

"I will miss the place terribly. I cannot thank everyone enough for the amazing memories I will have for the rest of my life."
