Recently in the country supporting Leisure, New Zealand reggae-soul-R&B artist Muroki will tour east-coast Australia next February.
"AUSTRALIA! I'm stopping by for some summer shows in February. Can't wait to see you all," says the 'Wavy' and 'Summer Season' musician, who'll perform shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. The Melbourne leg will be part of a free showcase of New Zealand music, Sounds Of Aotearoa, staged at Federation Square and also featuring Six60, Ladi6 and Riiki Reid.
With a new EP in the works that's scheduled to land the first half of 2024, Muroki's newest release is his collab with BENEE, 'Love Cocoon'.
"All these influences were just saying one thing to me and I thought why not go straight to the source and get BENEE to jump on this track," Muroki says, discussing the creation of 'Love Cocoon'.
"We sing two sides of a tale about someone utterly besotted with their partner and I love what we got here."
Adds BENEE: "I was instantly drawn to how smooth everything is about this song and wanted to try to support that in my verse. I also related to these lyrics a lot. And it's always a pleasure working with Muroki, hehe."
Tickets to the Brisbane and Sydney shows are on sale. The Melbourne concert is free to attend.
