Since 2008, the picturesque village of Mullumbimby has welcomed the wider world into town for a massive party: Mullum Music Festival (MMF).
Mullumbimby is quietly nestled in the lush Byron Bay hinterland, a region home to festival kingpins such as Bluesfest, Splendour In The Grass and Falls.
But it's Mullum Music Festival that reigns supreme. Over its ten-year run so far, the festival has been wholeheartedly embraced by the diverse Mullumbimby community of some 3,000 people and brought 600 world-class artists, not to mention thousands of people, into the happy burg for a 4-day celebration of music and arts.
This year MMF will welcome a truly expansive selection of local, national and international artists running the gamut of rock, blues, soul, roots and more.
The 2018 line-up of international artists features: Tuareg guitarist and singer-songwriter Bombino, Mad Professor from Guyana, Jamaica's Jah9, Osaka Monaurail from Japan and the UK's Ben Ottewell among others.
Australian talent includes Caiti Baker, Hat Fitz & Cara, Lior performing with a strings section, William Crighton, Tangents, Georgia Fields and Cheap Fakes.
But seriously though, that only barely scrapes the surface of what's on at MMF in 2018. With so much on, it's any wonder the little town doesn't tear at the seams.
MMF proudly promotes itself as the 'no hassle' festival, with no gates, no headliners and no VIP areas. Instead, it's a festival where punters mingle with performers at gigs in halls, clubs and pubs rather than sloshing up-to-your-knees in mud through a field hours from anywhere.
