It is 20 years since one of hip hop's finest voices, Ms. Lauryn Hill released her debut solo album, 'The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill', which won five Grammys.
Fresh off an appearance earlier this year at Bluesfest, Ms. Hill has announced an Australian east-coast tour next February to celebrate the 20th anniversary of that album with shows in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
And the good news doesn't end there, with Ms. Hill to bring long-time collaborator and friend Nas on tour with her. Bonus round indeed.
"This album chronicled an intimate piece of my young existence," Ms. Hill says. "It was the summation of most, if not all, of my most hopeful and positive emotions experienced to that date.
"I loved and believed deeply in my community's ability to both love and heal itself provided it received the right amount of support and encouragement.
"Our world today, both complex and changing, is in need of the balance between moral fortitude and cathartic expression. I hope the love and energy that permeated this work can continue to inspire change with love and optimism at the helm."
First establishing herself as an iconic figure with the Fugees, 'The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill' featured classic joints 'Doo Wop (That Thing)', 'Everything Is Everything' and 'Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You'.
Nas rose to fame in 1994 with the release of his debut album 'Illmatic', arguably the most revered rap album in the genre's history. Nas and Ms. Hill first collaborated with their single 'If I Ruled The World (Imagine That)' that was released in 1996.
Tickets for all shows go on sale at 2pm Tuesday 11 September. Click here for more information.
