With a swag of acclaimed singers joining throughout the tour, three-time ARIA Awards winners Monsieur Camembert have extended their Leonard Cohen tribute production.
After sold-out performances at three of Sydney's iconic venues – Sydney Opera House, City Recital Hall and State Theatre in 2024 – the group have added a national run of live shows to their Cohen Noir: The Beauty, Mystery and Romance of Leonard Cohen production. The tour kicks off with a trio of Victorian August shows in Bendigo, Melbourne and Gippsland before venturing to Newcastle, Wollongong, Brisbane, Adelaide, Barossa Valley, Canberra and Sydney throughout September-November.
More than your average tribute show, 'Cohen Noir' is an exploration of the famed musician's extensive back catalogue through an adventurous lens as Monsieur Camembert's ten-piece Gypsy jazz ensemble blend jazz, tango, Latin, swing and more in a rich, cinematic journey through his songs and poetry.
Each concert will see a number of guest vocalists join Monsieur Camembert – who won Best World Music Album at the ARIA Awards in 2002, 2003 and 2005 – including Karise Eden, Abby Dobson, Diana Rouvas, iOTA, Rebecca Barnard, Rob Snarski, Nina Ferro, Frank Sultana, Lloyd Spiegel, Lyn Bowtell, Timothy James Bowen, Alexi Kaye, Brian Campeau and Sue Carson.
With the production weaving new arrangements interwoven with rare audio of Cohen himself, 'Cohen Noir' is a transcendent homage to one of the greatest songwriters of our time, reframed with invention, depth and passion by one of Australia's most beloved and decorated ensembles.
