With her new album only weeks away, American art-pop indie rocker Mitski has dropped a new single as well as locking in an exclusive Sydney residency at Vivid LIVE this winter.
The 'My Love Mine All Mine' and 'Washing Machine Heart' hitmaker will perform four nights at Sydney Opera House from late May, bringing a concert Variety dubbed 'a mesmerising study in movement', while The Guardian depicted it as 'unusual, enigmatic and utterly compelling'.
Set to perform additional global dates in New York City, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Istanbul, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, London, Manila, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Singapore, the Vivid LIVE shows will be Mitski's only Australian concerts.
The new record, and Mitksi's eighth studio album overall, is titled 'Nothing's About To Happen To Me' and releases 27 February (pre-order it).
After sharing lead single 'Where's My Phone?' last month, today Mitski drops 'I'll Change For You'.
It's a nostalgic mid-tempo bop featuring Mitski's gorgeous vocal range backed by a rich accompaniment of a string section, drums and percussion, pianos, guitar, flute, and vibraphone.
With desperation, she sings: "'Cause I'll do anything / For you to love me again / If you don't like me now / I will change for you."
Lyrically, the song finds Mitski immersing herself in a rich narrative whose main character is a reclusive woman in an unkempt house. Outside of her home, she is a deviant; inside of her home, she is free.
The music video, directed by Lexie Alley, expands on this storytelling eroing in on the chaotic, untidy Tansy House universe presented in the album’s photos by Alley.
Tickets on sale from 10am (local time) on 13 February.
