Midnight Juggernauts To Support Tame Impala

Tame Impala
Arts Editor and Senior Writer (many years until 2012)

After closely examining the bill for their forthcoming national tour and realising that it only contained one of my two favourite Australian acts, Tame Impala have kindly decided to do the double and add Midnight Juggernauts to the proceedings.

The electro-synth gods have two all-time classic albums — Dystopia and The Crystal Axis — to their names, and if new single 'Ballad Of The War Machine' is any indication, they're gearing up to release a third in June. They've toured the global festival circuit many times over, from Coachella to Glastonbury to Fuji Rock, but have spent the past two years on exploratory side projects and experimental studio revelry. It's about time they got back out on the road.

Tame Impala, meanwhile, are simply going from strength to strength, having recently wrapped up a string of sold out North American shows and an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Coming up, they've got Coachella, Sasquatch, Primavera Sound, Open'er Festival, Optimus Alive, Fuji Rock and Glastonbury on the horizon, as well as headline dates at London's Hammersmith Apollo and Paris' Olympia Hall.

Tame Impala and Midnight Juggernauts play the following Australian dates

Fri Apr 26 — Festival Hall (Melbourne)
Thu May 02 — Hordern Pavilion (Sydney)
Wed May 08 — Convention Centre (Brisbane)
Thu May 09 — Thebarton Theatre (Adelaide)
Sat May 18 — Belvoir Ampitheatre (Perth)

Both bands will also appear on the Groovin' The Moo bill. Stream Tame Impala's Coachella performance here on Monday April 15.
