Methyl Ethel To Release New EP And Tour Australia In Solo Mode

Methyl Ethel's Jake Webb will tour in solo mode April 2020.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A new EP from Western Australia's Methyl Ethel is forthcoming with news multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Jake Webb will release 'Hurts To Laugh' 10 April.

The live band will also support Swedish indie pop acts Peter, Bjorn & John on their American March-April tour.

Upon his return to Oz, Jake will tour in solo mode in April with intimate dates in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Perth.

The lead single of 'Hurts To Laugh' is the kooky, lo-fi brilliance of 'Majestic AF'. The press release describes 'Majestic AF' as 'stumbling into its bubbling oscillator and analogue polyrhythms, while a kick-free drumbeat marches right into an atonal synth melody supporting Webb's equally idiosyncratic falsetto'. Give it a spin to find out.
