Western Australian alt-pop eccentric Jake Webb aka Methyl Ethel has shared a music video for his newest single, 'Proof', which features the vocals of indie star Stella Donnelly.
A song "about truth and movies" offers Webb, 'Proof' is the first vocal collaboration Methyl Ethel has ever done, Jake keeping it in the family so to speak with Donnelly a former guitarist for Methyl Ethel."Stella is one of the most truth-telling artists I've ever heard," Webb says. "It made for a perfect match."
Donnelly continues: "Working on 'Proof' with Jake felt like being invited to the set of your favourite movie; such an insightful and wonderful experience."
Methyl Ethel will release their fourth studio album 'Are You Haunted?' next month, which features previous singles 'Neon Cheap' and 'Matters' as well 'Proof'.
The music for the new record was created at a studio Webb used to record and write the first songs for Methyl Ethel. "A dear friend of mine recently passed away, the studio is his," he explains.
"I spent many years of experimentation with him, learning so much looking over his shoulder. It feels special to continue to share the space with his ghost, I'm still learning from him."
Methyl Ethel is set to tour Australia during the first half of 2022 including a string of east-coast shows in April as well as appearances at Perth Festival, Meadow Festival and Splendour In The Grass.
'Are You Haunted?' is set for release 18 February. Pre-order it.
