Art rock ensemble Methyl Ethel will tour nationally at the start of summer, their only standalone appearances in 2023.
The nom de plume of Western Australian songwriter, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Jake Webb, Methyl Ethel have undertaken several different iterations; from a solo bedroom recording project, to three-piece band, and later, a six-piece touring collective with two drummers. This run of shows, which will visit Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth commencing late November, will see Methyl Ethel curate two different sets.
The 'New & Old' gigs will see Methyl Ethel perform a special selection of new and never before heard material (while fans can also request some deeper cuts when purchasing tickets) alongside a secondary set of the group's biggest numbers like 'Ubu', 'No. 28', 'Drink Wine', 'Twilight Driving', 'Neon Cheap', 'Scream Whole', and 'Real Tight'.
Methyl Ethel's most recent new material came with the deluxe edition of 2022 album 'Are You Haunted?' released earlier this year: 'Kick And Scream', 'Oh Toreador', and 'Talk Louder'.
"I'm so pleased to be presenting with this deluxe issue, what is essentially the 'unabridged version' of 'Are You Haunted?' plus a few extras," shared Jake earlier this year.
"It's a real treat to have every song, written and recorded for the album, released. The whole story is now presented, start to finish."
Tickets on sale from 10am EDT on 6 October.
