Despite the current music festival carnage, one staple of the summer calendar continues to purr along with Meredith Music Festival, now in its 32nd year, sharing its 2024 line-up.
The three-day, one-stage camping adventure in Victoria held the first week of summer (6-8 December) will welcome in 2024 Jamie xx, Waxahatchee, Genesis Owusu, Mk.gee, Zapp and many more."For the thirty second and very first time," shares Aunty Meredith. Forward thinking English beatmaker-producer Jamie xx headlines, the 'Loud Places' and 'I Know There's Gonna Be (Good Times)' creator releasing a string on 2024 singles including 'All You Children' with The Avalanches.
Country-folk-rock indie project Waxahatchee ('Fire', 'Lilacs') also joins the line-up, bringing her 2024 album 'Tigers Blood' for the ride, as does lo-fi alternative American singer-songwriter Mk.gee ('Are You Looking Up', 'Alesis') and veteran American funk band Zapp ('Computer Love', 'More Bounce To The Ounce', 'I Want To Be Your Man').
The Aussie contingent is led by alternative hip hop, funk, punk rocker Genesis Owusu, Melbourne rocker Angie McMahon, Melbourne psych-rock funksters Glass Beams, and Indigenous rapper Barkaa ('King Brown', 'For My Tittas'). While 'You Make Me Feel Like Dancing' hitmaker, Leo Sayer brings the nostalgia feels to the 2024 event.
Other international arrivals include The Dare ('Girls', 'Good Time'), Fat White Family ('Touch The Leather Redux', 'Whitest Boy On The Beach'), Mannequin Pussy ('Romantic', 'Drunk II'), and Princess Superstar ('Perfect').
The second round of the ticket ballot is open until 10:32pm AEST on Tuesday 20 August. The Ballot was introduced in 2007 to distribute Meredith tickets in an equitable and stress-free manner, as there are far more people interested in coming along than tickets available. Being in the Ballot means you get first crack at tickets.
Meredith Music Festival takes place at Meredith Supernatural Amphitheatre 6-8 December.
