Fresh from releasing their newest album – recorded last year at a quinceañera in Las Vegas – '¡Blow It…At Madison’s Quinceañera!' last month – punk supergroup Me First and the Gimme Gimmes return to Australia.
Only down under for a blitzkrieg tour last year, the band fronted by Swingin' Utters and Re-Volts' Spike Slawson, and joined by CJ Ramone (The Ramones) and Joey Cape (Lagwagon), bring their unique covers to Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, Canberra, Sydney, Torquay, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in November. The '¡Blow It…At Madison’s Quinceañera!' album features covers from such diverse acts as ABBA, Black Sabbath, Olivia Rodrigo, and Selena.
"I would like this to be considered indicative of what a live show by the Gimme Gimmes can be," Spike says of the album. "The only difference is that there would be people that wanted to come and see us.
"What happened at this show, to me, is better than unfettered, unconditional applause from a lot of people. Golf-claps from about five people is how I want to hear a live record."
Obviously they want more than a few golf-claps, but please no fake applause while you're distracted at the bar.
Joining the Gimmes are the self-proclaimed 'last punk band' Dwarves who have been kicking their unique blend of punk, garage, thrash and experimental music around for 40 years if you can believe that.
So, if you're up for good time, whether it's your birthday, bar mitzvah, quinceañera or you're just out on the town for the night, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes can guarantee you a good time every time.
Tickets on sale from 12pm (local time) on 18 July.
