Singer, songwriter and producer, Mayer Hawthorne's third LP, Where Does This Door Go, has been announced to be released locally 19 July, and this time around, he's breaking all the rules.
On this record, Hawthorne and musical genius / co-producer Pharrell Williams collaborate with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and blend genres from old-school Motown and bluesy rock to hip hop, creating an explosive tasting milkshake. The album is indeed anything but predictable.
The vibe of the piece has been described as "Steely Dan meets Beastie Boys", which suggests both a studio seriousness and an experimental, playful approach.
The first single off of the LP, 'Her Favourite Song', featuring UK songstress Jessie Ware, has already seen over 200K plays on SoundCloud.
The neo-soul crooner has previously received critical praise from multiple industry heavy artists such as Justin Timberlake, Kanye West, John Mayer, Snoop Dogg to name a few.
