Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

Three inner west brands are joining forces this October long weekend, for a live music, queer party and moto-lifestyle triple-header called Marrickville Block Weekender.

Marrickville Block Weekender, presented by Heaps Normal, will take over Railway Parade, kicking off with the Heaps Gay Street Party 10th Birthday, followed by the inaugural hard rock and punk festival Off The Rails, and closing out with the return of bike event Throttle Roll.

Heaps Gay turns ten this year. It has become an institution of Sydney's queer scene, and the Heaps Gay Street Party will build on the success of their famed Roadwerk events, dancing day to night with a house, pop and nu-disco soundtrack. There'll be plenty to see and do across two stages for Heaps Gay Street Party.

Queer party vibes from the likes of Big Wett, Billy Davis and Tseba, each joined by special friends Stereogamous, Dameeeela, MungMung and more. . . With a sprinkling of drag and colourful roaming performers, for good measure.

From the team who presented Bad Friday, comes the newest offering: Off The Rails. This new event boasts a bold line-up traversing punk, garage, and hardcore. Leading the proceedings is Amyl And The Sniffers and underground legends The Mark Of Cain. Not to mention there's Private Function, RVG, Shady Nasty, Dust, Southeast Desert Metal, DOWNGIRL, The Neptune Power Federation, Chimers, Organs, Itchy & The Knits and more.

The long-awaited return of Throttle Roll arrives with custom bikes, live bands, and booze. . . In a celebration of the fun and frivolity of Australian motorcycle culture. It's not your typical motorcycle event – while some of the country's wildest motorcycle builds will certainly be on display, Throttle Roll will also continue its decade-long reputation of celebrating the lively culture of the creative community. Rock 'n' roll, swinging hips, singing lips. Headliners include Papa Pilko And The Binrats, XOLO, and more.

“Heaps Normal is so pumped to present the Marrickville Block Weekender,” Heaps Normal Co-Founder/CEO Andy Miller says. “It epitomises what we love most about our inner west Sydney community — an exciting mix of different subcultures coming together and celebrating the fact that our individual differences make our worlds more interesting and fun.”

“There’s nothing more heaps normal than that. Heaps Gay, Off The Rails and Throttle Roll. . . What a party! Heaps Gay have been running events that create a fun, safe space for people to express themselves completely and freely. They're a pillar of the Sydney nightlife and have been providing continuous solace for the queer community and allies to come out of their shell since their first event in 2013.”

Tickets are on sale now.

Marrickville Block Weekender is on from 30 September-2 October. Heaps Gay Street Party (30 September), Off The Rails (1 October) and Throttle Roll (2 October).
