From the heart of Nashville comes Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Maren Morris bringing her 'Girl: The World Tour' to Australia in August.
The tour is named for her latest single 'Girl', an upbeat track harnessing indie-rock guitar sounds and the first taste of her forthcoming sophomore album.
An anthem of empowerment, 'Girl' was co-written with Sarah Aarons and Greg Kurstin, and comes at a time when women are not well-represented on country radio stations and streaming services.
“Looking at the country radio chart the last year, more titles had the word ‘girls’ in them than actual girls on the radio,” Maren tells Rolling Stone about the single.
“I think in my head I wanted to buck the trend a little bit and be like, ‘I’m a girl, and I’m going to sing about a girl, and I’m the girl'.”
Since breaking out in 2016, Maren has quickly established herself with vocal stylings reflecting her country, folk and pop influences. Her 2016 label-debut album 'Hero' has been gold-certified and entered the Billboard Country Albums chart at number one just a week after its release.
With more than 40 US and international dates, Maren hits Australia in August with stops in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
