Manchester's Rave Institution The Warehouse Project Debuts In Australia With Bonobo & Mall Grab

An institution of Manchester's rave scene, The Warehouse Project debuts in Australia May 2024.
Our eclectic team of writers from around Australia – and a couple beyond – with decades of combined experience and interest in all fields.

A cultural institution of Manchester's rave scene for almost two decades, The Warehouse Project will travel to the southern hemisphere for the first time landing in Melbourne and Sydney for one weekend in May.

Since its inception in 2006, The Warehouse Project has pushed creative boundaries in disused spaces, from the early days at Boddingtons Brewery to today's industrial rave powerhouse, Depot Mayfield.

Now the concept will arrive down under with two specifically curated parties happening simultaneously in Melbourne and Sydney on 25-26 May.

First, acclaimed electronica, trip hop and nu-jazz protagonist and Ninja Tune alumni Bonobo brings his international Outlier series, the 'Cirrus' and 'Kerala' artist harnessing his talents as a curator and arbiter of club culture for a mesmerising experience.

Bonobo will be joined by Welsh techno, dream pop artist Kelly Lee Owens, Australia's own HAAi, Paula Tape and DJ PGZ, plus The Warehouse Project resident Krysko.

Australian producer and globally in-demand collaborator, Mall Grab brings his legendary Looking For Trouble party home for the very first time, the 'Liverpool Street In The Rain' artist manipulating a set from his extensive back catalogue (that already includes two albums and a staggering eight EPs since 2018).

Mall Grab will be joined by grime, dubstep English producer Effy (who just released the joint 'iluv' with Mall Grab), as well as Jennifer Loveless and Australian DJ Dameeeela.

"Following the success of our first international editions in Rotterdam and Antwerp last year," Sam Kandel, co-founder of The Warehouse Project, says, "we've been having great fun putting more international plans together.

"Australia has always been somewhere we've dreamed of hosting The Warehouse Project. We are also so grateful to Bonobo and Mall Grab, and all the artists both international and domestic who will each play a special part of this WHP Australia debut."

Tickets on sale from 11am EDT on 7 March.
