After attracting 375,000 festival goers in 2023, St Kilda Festival returns in 2024 for its 43rd instalment across two huge days of live music and summer fun – 17-18 February – that's totally free.
With the Melbourne event's line-up (featuring 60-plus bands and acts) to drop next week (17 January), festival organisers have teased the Sunday headliners revealing indie musician Mallrat ('Wish On An Eyelash', 'Groceries') and OG electronic musical duo Bag Raiders ('Shooting Stars') will crank the sound to 11.The tradition showcase of First Peoples' talent on Saturday will be headlined by renowned neo-soul artist and 2023 ARIA Award nominee Mo'Ju.
The Singing Our Futures programme will also return to St Kilda Festival across both days, offering mentoring experience centred around helping up and coming First Nations artists with their songwriting and recording.
The annual and hotly contested New Music Competition, which recognises the importance of offering platforms to emerging musicians, will take place on Sunday with the winner earning a spot on the Main Stage of 2025 St Kilda Festival.
Alongside the diverse showcase of live Australian music, St Kilda Festival also offers a programme featuring dance performances, workshops, sports demonstrations, community group activities, food and market stalls, roving entertainment and a dedicated family-friendly stage.
"St Kilda Festival continues to support the Australian music industry, while creating an unforgettable experience for festival goers," St Kilda Festival Lead Sullivan Patten says.
"It's great to see the community come together for a diverse day out which has something for everyone."
St Kilda Festival is a free and all-ages Melbourne event that takes place 17-18 February.
