Australian vocal powerhouse, Mahalia Barnes is returning to the road with her band The Soul Mates.
The daughter of Jimmy Barnes, Mahalia and The Soul Mates were regular performers around Australia prior to the pandemic, touring constantly as well as supporting the likes of The Roots, Lionel Richie, and gospel-soul legend Mavis Staples."I've been laying low this past month, just spending some time with the family, but I'm super excited to be heading out for a heap of shows in February and March with the Soul Mates," Mahalia says.
The tour will visit New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland from early February to mid March.
With a guitar-driven style of gutsy soul, rock and blues, Mahalia is inspired by acts like Ike and Tina Turner and legendary queen of soul Aretha Franklin.
The Soul Mates include Lachy Doley and Clayton Doley (keyboards), Franco Raggatt (guitar), Warren Trout and Jackie Barnes (drums) and Ben Rodgers (guitar/ bass). Band members will vary from show to show plus special, surprise guest vocalists on select shows including Prinnie Stevens and Karen Lee Andrews.
