Music industry veteran Maggie Collins brings her wealth of experience in radio, festival programming and artist management to Turn Up Music Conference, on the Sunshine Coast, in October.
Maggie's extensive credentials include work with Australian radio stations triple j and Brisbane's 4ZZZ, programming national music conference BIGSOUND and managing DZ Deathrays.
Earlier this year, Maggie formalised her various working roles when she created Morning Belle, her own music services company. “Essentially it's been really satisfying to build a company under which I'm doing all these things.
"I haven't really done much with it outside of managing DZ Deathrays and programming BIGSOUND because they are quite big projects in and of themselves, and I don't like to over-promise and under-deliver.”
For her appearance at Turn Up, Maggie says she plans mostly on imparting what knowledge she can to a new group of people while also learning as much as possible herself. “I'm really looking forward to it,” Maggie says of the successful grassroots event that's now in its fifth year.
“For me it's happening at a time when things are way less intense and busy so I'll be able to have a nice, open mind to the different people that are going to be there, the different things that I can learn myself and the people I can meet.
“I really like small, grassroots communities and seeing what different areas are doing with their music scene, so I hope I'm going to get an education going to Turn Up as much as I'll be able to share whatever information I can with the audience as well.”
