American artist M. Ward is returning to his home away from home, with The Undertakers, for a very special, one-off Australian performance in Melbourne.
The 'Chinese Translation', 'Too Young To Die', 'Poison Cup' and 'Vincent O'Brien' songwriter will perform a set of his most beloved songs as well as digging through his extensive catalogue that includes being one half of indie outfit She and Him (with Zooey Deschanel) and also an important portion of indie supergroup Monsters of Folk.The Portland, Oregon, musician who has being mesmerising audiences for 25 years, will play an intimate show at Melbourne's The Night Cat on 26 February with seated and standing options in the round.

M. Ward & The Undertakers are regulars down under, even during the pandemic years only touring here last December, with his Melbourne show providing 'many highlights, with Ward going through classics like 'Outta My Head', 'Undertaker' and 'Helicopter' with both precision and heart that felt like it was not the last show of the tour, and he had not played these songs nearly every night for a few weeks.
'The quietly spoken, affable Ward directed proceedings but also let them also unwind at seemingly their own pace; nothing felt rushed or going-through-the-motions. It's something the songwriter delivers through his albums, too, and something that makes both his performances and his recordings so comforting, engaging and just plain lovely.'
Ward's most recent studio album, his twelfth solo record, is his 2023 release 'Supernatural Thing', which features his First Aid Kit collab 'Too Young To Die' as well as the title song, 'Lifeline', and 'Engine 5' (another collab with First Aid Kit).
