Italian classical, new age composer-pianist Ludovico Einaudi will bring his new album 'The Summer Portraits' to Australia in 2026.

Renowned for composing works stretching back to the 1980s, where he studied music at a conservatory in Milan and subsequently with famed Italian composer Luciano Berio, Einaudi will commence his Australian tour with a six-concert residency at Sydney Opera House in January.

He'll then perform a one-off concert at Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl before two performances at the historical Fremantle Arts Centre in February. These concerts will see Ludovico perform music from 'The Summer Portraits' as well as classics from his deep, much-loved repertoire.

"Australia has always held a special place in my heart," Ludovico says. "When I tour there, I feel embraced by an audience that is open, warm, and deeply attentive.

"But my bond goes even further back: My grandfather spent half of his life in Australia, and my mother filled my childhood with stories of its landscapes and people. Those tales became part of my imagination, and over time Australia has become woven into my very DNA."

Known for such compositions as 'Experience', 'Nuvole Bianche', 'Una Mattina', 'Primavera' and 'Divenire', Einaudi is the most-streamed classical artist of all time, exceeding 39 billion streams, with monthly Spotify listeners surpassing those of the classical giants Mozart and Beethoven.

Released at the start of 2025, 'The Summer Portraits' is Einaudi's most recent studio album. "'The Summer Portraits' is connected to all the memories of our endless summers. Thirteen new pieces that I have composed over the last two years and recorded with some great musicians."

The single 'Rose Bay' is named after the Sydney suburb where Einaudi's grandfather, Wando Aldrovandi, emigrated in the 1930s to escape the Italy's fascist government.

From performing on an Arctic ice floe for Greenpeace to composing film soundtracks such as 'The Intouchables', 'Nomadland', 'This Is England' and 'The Father', Einaudi has firmly cemented his place as one of the world's most influential contemporary composers.

Tickets on sale from 3 October.
