Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has "furiously" denied the child sex charges against him in a statement released by his solicitors, after court proceedings regarding the alleged offences were postponed until May.

Watkins appeared in Cardiff Crown Court via video link from Parc Prison in Bridgent, but technical difficulties forced proceedings to be delayed.

He's been remanded in custody since December, and is accused of conspiracy to rape a baby, as well as four offences relating to possession and distribution of indecent images of children. For good measure, he's also been charged with possessing extreme animal pornography. Yeah — we'd probably be denying it, too.

Two women aged 20 and 24 were charged alongside Watkins; the 20-year-old is charged with the same offences as Watkins (except conspiracy to rape a baby), while the 24-year-old faces all the same charges as Watkins.

Watkins' statement, issued on behalf of Watkins by his solicitor Sarah Williams-Martin, reads: "Mr Watkins furiously denies all of the charges and allegations made. He intends to fight to the biter end to clear his name. He wishes to thank the fans, family and friends for the constant love and support they have given and continue to give throughout this testing time."

Earlier this year, the other members of Lostprophets issued a statement in response to the news: "Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers. Jamie, Lee, Luke, Mike and Stu."
